An agreement establishing a framework for improving corporate governance and supervision within the Société Tunisienne de Garantie (SOTUGAR) was signed on 27 January 2023 between the Ministry of Finance, represented by Mrs. Sihem BOUGHDIRI-NEMSIA, the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT), represented by Mr. Marouene ABASSI, Governor, and Mr. Tahar Ben HATIRA, Chairman and CEO of SOTUGAR.
The signing of this agreement underscores the signatories’ interest in the place of guarantee systems in improving access to finance for professionals, businesses and individuals and promoting financial inclusion.
This framework should allow for enhancing SOTUGAR’s organization and administration through the adoption of best practices in terms of governance and risk management, as well as putting into place a proper supervisory framework. To this end, the BCT will support the Ministry of Finance in the restructuring of the company and its supervision taking into account a risk-based approach.
